Welcome
Now come one, come all to this tragic affair----

Welcome to Nightmares & Daydreams. A modern day rp that takes place in a psychiatric hospital.

You were thrown in here for one reason or another. Dumped in this hellhole they call Daniel Grey Psychiatric Hospital, or actually more commonly known as the local loony bin of California. When you think "psychiatric hospital" or "mental institution" I'm sure the first thing you think are those scary asylums they have in the movies with bright white lights everywhere and people in straight jackets not talking to each other.

I guess in a way Daniel Grey is like that in the sense that a lot of the walls and floors here are a bright white. But there aren't any people in straight jackets and a lot of the people here talk to each other. Actually the patients here are friendly in most cases, save for the few that are anti-social beyond belief. And they can dress how they want,it's actually quite homey here so don't be afraid when you're dropped off for the first time.

Whether you be a normal human being who decided to work here at Daniel Grey as a therapist or security or an unstable patient you are welcome here, just remember. Lights out at 10 PM and DO NOT step out of your room past midnight.

Charlie shifted nervously when the girl didn't respond. Had he said something wrong? Was she so disgusted with the fact he hadn't showered in about 8 days that she didn't want to talk to him? He sighed and played with his lip ring, before watching a new girl enter the room. She was pretty, dirt blonde hair and a beautiful face. She was watching the intimidating guy with nice tattoos as he pulled the other guy with nice tattoos with him out of the room.

The girl didn't look happy, and Charlie figured maybe she would want to talk? Charlie could understand that most people here wouldn't look happy but maybe someone would want someone to talk to? Charlie wasn't much of a huge conversationalist himself. Sure he'll talk here and there and once upon a time before everyone thought he was crazy he was more than happy to talk. Charlie actually used to be an outgoing kid believe it or not. He let out a soft sigh and slowly stood up. "Um.. sorry if I had bothered you.. I'll just go talk to someone else." He tugged at the hem of his sleeve, thinking about running back to his room to grab a jacket. He felt far to exposed with his arms naked and exposed like this. Everyone could see how weak and vulnerable he is, they might get ideas.

He still remembered when Sascha saw a few scars on his hands peeking out from his skeleton gloves a while ago. Sascha acted almost like he was amazing, he asked in awe if Charlie had done them to himself. It was a terrible experience he didn't want to relive, so why was he here in a short sleeve shirt and no gloves? Charlie could never imagine harming himself, and he was almost insulted someone would accuse him of it. Someone he loved gave him these scars and he was ashamed of it. He was sure everyone could see the vivid pink marks in the spots where his tattoos didn't quite cover well enough, all over his left arm he was sure they could see them. He was positive.

He felt his stomach make an uncomfortable lurch like he was about to throw up and he stopped dead in his tracks. He was already in front of the girl so he forced his mouth into a smile and looked down at her. "Hi" he said softly, looking around nervously and continuing to tug at his sleeves, glancing at his arms every now and then.

Naomi glanced up, her dull blue eyes locking on the boy that walked over to her. He looked scared, and though he could possibly be older than her she couldn't help but compare him to a small child. He was playing with the hems of his sleeves, much like how she does when she's uncomfortable, and looking around nervously.

Despite her serious dislike for people she offered a faint smile to him. "Hi." She responded quietly, her voice was just above a whisper and sounded quite hoarse from rarely talking. She honestly didn't want to talk to anyone but she also didn't want to be mean to someone who looked so scared and alone. 'He seems a lot like me...' She thought to herself. She had noticed him talking to some red haired girl moments ago when she was watching the two tattooed guys talking.

"Are you new here too?" She found herself asking rather than just thinking it. That was unlike her, why was she talking to this guy she didn't know so willingly. Was it because he made her think of a little child who was lost, scared, and alone?

She could easily spot the pink marks that marred his arms. She honestly doubted he was the one to do that to himself. 'Maybe he was abused, which would explain why he's like a small child to you.' She heard a voice explain in her head. She sighed and closed her eyes. She hated that voice. It always forced her to think of things she didn't want to think of. Looking at his scars made the fresh cuts from just yesterday burn on her arm as if to remind her they were there. She bit her lip to keep from gasping due to the pain.

Her dull blue eyes slid back up to look at him. 'Is he okay..?' She wouldn't ever voice her worry about him but honestly she questioned if he was abused. Possibly like she was.

She started to play with the hems of her long sleeves, loving how her dark blue nails showed up against the black ends of her stripped shirt.

When he heard a kind reply from the woman he looked up at her again. "Are you new here too?" She asked and Charlie shook his head. "Kind of.. not really. I've been here for a little over a week." He slowly raised his arms out ward so they were stretched out on each side. "W-Welcome to the Daniel Grey Psychiatric Hospital or more commonly known to the outside world as the 5 star loony bin." He laughed softly and shuffled awkwardly.

"I'm Charlie by the way" he offered another smile and watched her hands nervously as they played with her sleeves. Typically when he meets someone knew he's found a lot of them are the shaking hands kind of people. The whole deal that Charlie has to clasp hands with another person makes him uncomfortable. They basically hold his hand captive for a few seconds, they could easily restrain him from there. "I could um.. show you around if you want. I believe today is a visiting day though so it may be a little bit more grounded then usual."

Charlie wondered if people looked forward to visiting day. Charlie doubted he'd hardly get anyone visiting him. He was as good as dead to his birth parents now. Sure he dad was kind to him, but Charlie wouldn't think he would ever come visit him, they hadn't even seen each other in so many years. He sighed softly. Maybe his first foster parents would visit him if Charlie had actually talked to them. With his first foster parents he would just close himself in his room most the time. When he wasn't in his room he was at school or at the dinner table eating. There was always an awkward silence at that dinner table. His foster parents two birth children would kinda just eat then cast a glance at Charlie before adverting their gaze. Probably cause they were taught what everyone was taught "its rude to stare."

He didn't stay there very long. A few months when he was finally warming up Charlie became to much to handle. His new parents didn't know how to handle him. If he started crying or having an anxiety attack they didn't know what to do. They would keep asking what was wrong but it was embarrassing that Charlie was crying over the fact he had been taken away from his abusive family. He was sad that he hadn't had the chance to have a normal family and that was ruined now. Even when his new parents would try to hug him Charlie would become violent and start thrashing around and it would only make it worse.

When the next family took him though it was a little better. He was the only child and even though he was still uncomfortable around them, and afraid, he sort of felt like he should be a good son. The couple who took him in couldn't have children. Charlie would feel bad if he gave them a hard time when all they wanted was to have a kid. They were nice to Charlie anyways, and they handled his anxiety attacks a little better. Charlie was still distant though and obviously still broken. It was a few years later that they decided to send Charlie to Daniel Grey. Maybe they would visit. They seemed to actually love Charlie.
