Welcome
Now come one, come all to this tragic affair----

Welcome to Nightmares & Daydreams. A modern day rp that takes place in a psychiatric hospital.

You were thrown in here for one reason or another. Dumped in this hellhole they call Daniel Grey Psychiatric Hospital, or actually more commonly known as the local loony bin of California. When you think "psychiatric hospital" or "mental institution" I'm sure the first thing you think are those scary asylums they have in the movies with bright white lights everywhere and people in straight jackets not talking to each other.

I guess in a way Daniel Grey is like that in the sense that a lot of the walls and floors here are a bright white. But there aren't any people in straight jackets and a lot of the people here talk to each other. Actually the patients here are friendly in most cases, save for the few that are anti-social beyond belief. And they can dress how they want,it's actually quite homey here so don't be afraid when you're dropped off for the first time.

Whether you be a normal human being who decided to work here at Daniel Grey as a therapist or security or an unstable patient you are welcome here, just remember. Lights out at 10 PM and DO NOT step out of your room past midnight.

Dr. Carthur's Apartment 5509alexanwest2

The small one bedroom apartment is warm, with the scent of cinnamon and hazelnut. Off to the side is another area for her bedroom and bath. Anyone is welcome here if they need to talk or simply take a break from the vigor's of classes and group sessions. Melissa will usually cook up something to eat as well, so stop by anytime.

Using the old fashioned key, Melissa opened the door to her apartment, and shut it upon entering. Locking it up as well. Sighing, she flicked on the lights and went to go feed her beta fish that was on the coffee table, before going to put her things away and get into a more comfortable attire than a dress and uncomfortable heels. Once in some black yoga pants, a red tank top and a brown and orange knitted cardigan that went to the back of her knees, the woman made her way to the kitchen to cook up something delicious.
Pulling out a square pan, she started to make lasagna, and pulling her hair back, she got to work in just doing that. Soon the smell of it started to make it’s way around the room, as the soft classical music melted its way from across the room as well. Delicate fingers placed the lasagna pasta slices along the dish, to finally put it in the oven.
Slapping her hands together, Melissa took in deep sigh, “Alrightie, time for some snickerdoodles” with that, she started to cook. Cooking for some reason was this woman’s sanity while living in this extremely dangerous and yet insane academy. It made her feel at home, even though the room she was in was technically her home, it still didn’t feel like it, even after she had moved in a few months ago.
The loud pop of the container holding the cookie dough was heard, as she got to work shaping the dough into small balls to be rolled in the cinnamon sugar mix. The rolling didn’t take long and the coating didn’t take long either. In fact, the minute she finished the rest of the cookie dough, was the minute the timer went off for the lasagna to be done. “Perfect!” she laughed aloud at the little jump she made at the bell.
Switching the pans out, she waited a few minutes for the Lasagna to die before cutting a lone piece for herself and pausing, she smiled, “I should share this”, and moved to grab a few containers for the staff, and cutting slices for them, she then dug into her own. Once finished, she then took the containers to the rest of the staff. Though the search for each one was going to be a bit harder than she thought. So instead, she took a few small notecards, and wrote on them in sharpie, "FREE FOOD CARTHUR'S APARTMENT" and proceeded to put them with tape on all the staff's door's to their apartment.

Arriving at Dr. Carthur's apartment Alexander reached for the door knob then paused. It would be rude to walk in and so he just knocked. When she opens the door (which he knew she would seeing as she left the note) Dr. Evans would step in. "Hello" he greeted happily, breathing in the smell of home cooked food. "Mellisa, you are a saint" he said smiling brightly. "I don't have even close to enough time to cook lately, and even if I did cook for myself it would just taste awful." He laughed softly and looked around her apartment realizing he had never stepped foot in it.\

"Lovely place" he complimented, slowly picking up one of the remaining meals he assumed was there for him and any other staff that might wanna come. "I don't think we've sat down and had a conversation not work related in a while." He cut off a piece of the lasagna with the edge of his fork before poking it and put it in his mouth. After he chewed and swallowed he continued. "How's life been? Any patients giving you any problems?" He hadn't realized it but Alexander had already made this conversation work related. It was of course something he actually enjoys, it keeps his mind off things and he likes learning about these mental illnesses, he has ever since he interned here so many years ago.

"This is good by the way" he added with another friendly smile. Being completely honest, Alexander wasn't the best with socializing with normal not unstable people. Sure he didn't talk to his patients much different than he talked to normal people but he had more to talk about. He laughed softly and took another bite, looking at his watch afterwards. "A bit of a late dinner" he added with a shrug, "but dinner is dinner no matter what, and its never to late for an actual cooked dinner and not something simple like mac and cheese or hamburgers." Alexander figured after he finished eating he would go walk around and maybe send any patients back to their rooms if they were still out wondering around.

Dr. Carthur's Apartment Empty Re: Dr. Carthur's Apartment

Post by Dr. Carthur Sat Dec 21, 2013 1:45 am

The knock on her door made her jump slightly, even with it’s light thump. Taking a drink of water, to down the piece she had started into, Melissa straightened her messy outfit up as best she could, before opening it slowly. “Good Evening Alexander” she smiled warmly, opening the door in the process, “Come in, I hope you like the lasagna I made”. Once he was inside and the door was shut softly, she proceed to get him a plate and grabbed her own whilst sitting down with cups of water for the two of them.

A small laugh went out as he mentioned her a saint, and though she hardly thought so, she knew it was right. Most men would be too lazy to even attempt a good home cooked meal, while Melissa simply couldn’t help but make it, and share. “Well thanks, but I hardly think I’m a saint, and as for patients… well I guess they all are good. However…” and she paused to pop a piece of lasagna in so she could think on it a bit more, “Most of these young adults, still have a long way to go, when it comes to my diagnoses. How about yourself?” After she questioned him, she finally started to dig into her meal. Half leaning over it on elbows, to listen, think, and apply. That’s after all, what she did, and in it’s entirety, Melissa didn’t mind all the much about her job. She was after all, in the same exact boat as everyone else. Once in, can’t leave to the outside world, and once out, you can’t go back but are forever inclined to do just that. It was a constant struggle, but she did in fact like her job, no matter the dangers she always happens to put herself through. Some of her patients did worry her a lot, but she would usually diagnose herself as the female gene syndrome. Can’t stop that motherly urge or drive to protect, worry, and care for. Even with her own co-workers as well, and often times, she found herself more irritating than the others.

I need your broken promises

“Well thanks, but I hardly think I’m a saint, and as for patients… well I guess they all are good. However…” Alexander listened intently and nodded.“Most of these young adults, still have a long way to go, when it comes to my diagnoses. How about yourself?” He understood what she meant. of course a lot of the patients here are already graduated but the younger patients tend to be less of a problem. By younger students of course I mean the ones who are 17 and below. Typically people show signs of most mental illnesses as they get older. By the age of 15 is when it is typically more clear (this is not with all illnesses).

"My patients.. well.. I don't know they're the same I guess. A lot of the patients I noticed dislike coming to therapy. I usually have to seek them out which just makes them a little pissed off and they wont talk." He shrugged, "its difficult being a therapist, a lot of patients don't wanna open up for one reason or another. It's just difficult to get what I need to know... but I guess thats what I get for wanting to work at a mental institution" he laughed light heartedly and shrugged.

"Speaking of therapy, I was wondering if you could do the group therapy session with me tomorrow? You seem like a better people-person so I just figured it would be good to have someone the patients might like more around. "Speaking of which I heard Charlie visited your office today? Is everything alright with him? I can tell he may have a hard time coping here considering his past." He shrugged his shoulders and finally took another bite of his meal. "We should stop talking about work" he said with a light laugh. "I don't know what else there is to talk about though. All I ever do is work really... maybe I should find some new hobbies... it would be nice to have a break from always thinking of new ways to make the patients better."
