Welcome
Now come one, come all to this tragic affair----

Welcome to Nightmares & Daydreams. A modern day rp that takes place in a psychiatric hospital.

You were thrown in here for one reason or another. Dumped in this hellhole they call Daniel Grey Psychiatric Hospital, or actually more commonly known as the local loony bin of California. When you think "psychiatric hospital" or "mental institution" I'm sure the first thing you think are those scary asylums they have in the movies with bright white lights everywhere and people in straight jackets not talking to each other.

I guess in a way Daniel Grey is like that in the sense that a lot of the walls and floors here are a bright white. But there aren't any people in straight jackets and a lot of the people here talk to each other. Actually the patients here are friendly in most cases, save for the few that are anti-social beyond belief. And they can dress how they want,it's actually quite homey here so don't be afraid when you're dropped off for the first time.

Whether you be a normal human being who decided to work here at Daniel Grey as a therapist or security or an unstable patient you are welcome here, just remember. Lights out at 10 PM and DO NOT step out of your room past midnight.

Boys Dorm Room 2 {BENJAMIN & CHARLIE}

Post by Alexander Evans on Tue Sep 17, 2013 1:53 am

Benjamin & Charlie
Do to the fact that Benjamin is one of our attention hungry patients who hates being alone we have paired him with one of our new patients, Charlie. At first we were rather worried about pairing the two up seeing as because of Charlie's past he has severe trust issues and would perhaps have more frequent panic attacks. The only reason the staff agreed on pairing the two was because both sort of want attention, and so we figured they could both give each other attention? Besides, we checked with Charlie and he said it was fine.

I'm not dead I only dress that way

Charlie had been told that dinner was going on at the time but the thought of already having to approach so many people in a mass kinda made him afraid, anyone of them could hurt him. Instead he had just sort of hung out in the lobby reading "Under The Dome" when some guy with light blue eyes and dark curly hair shooed him away saying he should be in the cafeteria eating and making friends. The small guy was far too nervous to eat anyways, his stomach felt like it was doing flips. As soon as his foster parents left him here he had began gnawing at his fingernails covered in chipped black nail polish.

Heading down the hall it was completely empty and silent. The walls were painfully white and he just had the urge to splatter different colors of paint on them. He didn't even know why he was here, he wasn't crazy. He wasn't.. they just didn't understand. They didn't understand that he is completely normal, that his violent outbreaks are just a phase and his seemingly reasonless sobbing in some cases when someone touches him were only a phase. A phase that has lasted for a little more than 7 years, he would get better. Unlike most of these people here, they were actually sick and needed help, even if it would do no good to help them get better.

Now he did understand that in some cases patients do leave here slightly less mental than when they came but he thought it was rare. They were all crazy and Charlie isn't, he was just a fish out of water and he hated it. He probably wouldn't even make any friends.. from what he's seen in movies about mental institutions like this everyone just lopes around looking stoned, hardly aware of each other's presence. Of course the only movies Charlie's seen with mental institutions has been horror movies.

He shrugged his shoulders softly, whatever. He still didn't like it here and he refused to like it. He was just gonna keep his head down and not draw attention to himself if thats possible. So far it had been easy just walk down the halls with his luggage being carried on his back and in his hands, staying out of site, if he had managed so far surely he could manage until they find out he is totally normal and doesn't need help.

Finally Charlie stopped in front of bedroom 2. Sighing he opened the door, not prepared for what he saw. There was actually a guy in here. A guy was in his room. Sure the guy looked perfectly normal but if he was here then he couldn't be normal, for all Charlie knew this dude could think that fucking Santa Clause is trying to kill him. For a moment he just sat there sort of frozen, not sure what to do. "Um.." he slowly backed out of the room. "I'm sorry I must have gotten the wrong room.." he craned his head just out the door to see the room number, and of course it was a two. He was in the right place. No one told him he would have a room mate, why would they give him a room mate?

He felt his heart beat thudding harder and the sound of pulse running through his ears. This couldn't be right, they couldn't give him a room mate. Didn't they know about his.. condition. What if this guy walked in on him while he was changing clothes? Or what if this guy hurt him or something in his sleep. Without realizing it he began sort of hyper ventilating and stumbled back into the room, leaning against the door frame in fear his legs would fail him. "Who are you" he sighed out at last, trying to control his breathing and not have a full on panic attack.

Re: Boys Dorm Room 2 {BENJAMIN & CHARLIE}

Post by Benjamin on Tue Sep 17, 2013 11:06 pm

Benjamin slipped past dinner. He didn't feel like 'socializing', or whatever came as close to that as you could in a mental hospital. In the two weeks, or however long he had been here, he learned that although the patients were an upgrade compared to the last hospital he had been placed in, which was full of mostly crackheads and alcoholics, he didn't necessarily like any of the patients here.

He walked down the hallway to room number 2 and took a deep breath before pushing the door open. Nothing but emptiness met him and he closed the door behind him, walking over to the bed and sitting down. A part of him feared that when he opened the door again everyone would be gone and he would be left to rot in this hellhole. But the feeling had subdued. It was worst the first night they made him spend alone.

He shuddered and decided to not focus on the thought. Instead he focused on his latest sickness. If he didnt show symptoms, if he didnt find some way to make himself bleed they would leave him. He was positive they would kick him out just like everyone else, and maybe this time he wouldn't be lucky enough to find another temporary home.

He stood up ready to pace around the room when he heard the click of the doorknob and for a second his heart stopped. He didnt know what he was expecting, maybe a staff member or maybe more like an axe murderer intent on getting his blood but instead he got neither. The door creaked open to reveal another patient, judging by his bags Ben guessed he had just arrived. He was vaguely aware of having a conversation with one of the staff about getting a roommate.

The guy looked fairly young and was noticeably small. He had short brown hair and was wearing a bright red sweater. "Um.. I'm sorry I must have gotten the wrong room.." Ben blinked his expression unchanging. Obviously they hadn't told the guy he would have a roommate or it was just the wrong patient.

Ben proceeded to stay where he was his hands dangling at his sides the only change in his facial expression happening when he blinked. "Who are you" Ben had seen enough panic attacks to know that they pass, so he just skipped straight to the introduction without checking to make sure Charlie was okay.

He bowed slightly and straightened up. "I'm Benjamin Hughes." A small grin traced his lips. "Welcome to my hell."   He spun around to the bed, softly chuckling. His bed was a clutter of clothes and blankets and he sorted through them. "Sorry about the surprise. No one ever tells me anything either around here." He spoke over his shoulder. "You can have the bottom bunk if you want I can just move my stuff to the top." He straightened up and slowly turned around. His brain, which was already a disorganized mess, began filling with new ideas and thoughts. "Oh and your name is...?"

we are not afraid And we are not ashamed

You don’t know a thing about this life
And we are up for everything it takes to prove we’re not the same as them
And we will wear our masks again out after dark
‘Cause we are up for everything it takes and we are not the same

"I'm Benjamin Hughes." Charlie looked at the guy, his expression unchanging and still a mix of a pure horror at having to share a room and surprise. "Um.. nice to meet you" he said softly, letting his hazel eyes pull over the room. It was pretty big for a loony bin. He was expecting a small area with completely white walls and nothing but a bed on the floor, oh how wrong he had been. He guessed since the place was expensive it was higher quality. '

He fiddled absent mindedly with the edged of his red sweater. It was only early fall and the weather hadn't gotten cold yet but he still felt it necessary to layer up on clothes, besides it was less of a chance of someone hurting him. "Welcome to my hell." Hearing the guy's voice Charlie dropped his hands to his side and looked up at the guy, casting him a nervous smile. "It.. It doesn't look that bad" he took another look around the room before deciding he liked it. "Not what I expected from a home they dump crazy people in." As soon as he said it his eyes widened in alarm and he held out his hands shaking his head. "I.. I mean not that I'm implying your crazy or anything. I don't know you or how you got in here and the same goes for you I'm sure. For all you know I could be crazy." He shuddered after he spoke, he was not crazy, just broken and afraid.

"Sorry about the surprise. No one ever tells me anything either around here. You can have the bottom bunk if you want I can just move my stuff to the top." Charlie nodded and watched the guy, really he was okay with either bunk so he would go with whatever Ben said. The small guy just nodded his head slowly and shuffled carefully over to the bottom bunk. "Oh and your name is...?" he glanced over his shoulder at the guy, standing in front of the bed now.

"Oh uh, yeah, I'm Charlie." He paused and shrugged his shoulders, smiling slightly and attempting to actually be friendly. "Not Charles and Charlie for short. Just Charlie" yeah, surprisingly a lot of people thought his name was actually Charles. He wasn't sure why, did he even look like a Charles? He scrunched up his nose, no Charles was to smart and Charlie was just stupid, meanwhile Charlie was a more playful light hearted name which suited him much better.

"It.. It doesn't look that bad". Ben pushed his clothes to one side and picked at the sheets. "Not what I expected from a home they dump crazy people in. I.. I mean not that I'm implying your crazy or anything. I don't know you or how you got in here and the same goes for you I'm sure. For all you know I could be crazy." Ben watched Charlie as he slowly realized what he had said and then tried to cover up. A grin slowly spread across his lips. He laughed and shook his head.

"Oh but that's the funnest part about staying here. Trying to figure out the difference between who was put in here because they are just another sad story who no one had time for and the ones that are actually crazy." He laughed again his eyes dancing with excitement. He turned back to his bed to finish up sorting his stuff. "I'm assuming you don't think you're crazy. I don't think I'm crazy. No one really does. Because once you do realize it then you've cracked the code."

He finished up with his stuff and glanced over to see Charlie shuffling closer. Seeing that he had said nothing Ben assumed he wanted the bottom bunk. He grabbed his stuff and placed it on the top before swinging up there himself. He sat with his legs dangling off the side. "Oh uh, yeah, I'm Charlie." Ben smiled back at Charlie, placing the name to its owner. "Not Charles and Charlie for short. Just Charlie" He nodded. Charles was to fancy of a name anyways.

He sat up on the top bunk for a little while just studying the room like he had done for the past 2 weeks. It wasn't bad like Charlie had said and it wasn't exactly the room Ben had been referring to as his hell but the room sure was boring and full of nothing that could help Ben in his searches to find something that would make him sick. He glanced up at Charlie like he had almost forgotten he was there. Sometimes his thoughts really consumed him. He pushed off and landed lightly on the ground.

"Well Charlie you can stay here and unpack or come with me to the cafeteria and I can show you around." He smiled convincingly at Charlie and leaned against the wall, adjusting his beanie.

"Oh but that's the funnest part about staying here. Trying to figure out the difference between who was put in here because they are just another sad story who no one had time for and the ones that are actually crazy." Charlie twisted his head slightly, this guy sure was interesting. He was awfully.. not exactly happy just.. nonchalant for being in a mental hospital. And of course his comment about finding out who was a sad story and who was crazy made Charlie wonder if Ben really was crazy or just another tragic past like Charlie. He shrugged his shoulders, he guessed he could find out with time.

"I'm assuming you don't think you're crazy. I don't think I'm crazy. No one really does. Because once you do realize it then you've cracked the code." He shook his head vigorously. "I know I'm not crazy" he said defiantly, emphasizing the 'know'. He then just watched Ben pull all his stuff to the top bunk and climb up himself so Charlie had to crane his neck even more to look at the guy.

However he didn't need to wait like this for long as soon enough the guy was jumping down and Charlie was flinching as he impacted the ground near by. "Well Charlie you can stay here and unpack or come with me to the cafeteria and I can show you around." He nodded his head eagerly. "Oh.. okay" he smiled softly and came to the conclusion he liked Ben. Ben was nice and not at all crazy or insane like he expected everyone here would be.

"How did you end up here anyways, you seem really.. normal." He shrugged his shoulders and pulled his stuff over, tossing it onto the bottom bunk. "I dunno, you just don't seem crazy like I had expected when Antonio and Virgina told me I was gonna be staying here for a while." He refused to call the people who took him in his parents, his parents didn't like him, his mom tried to kill him and Antonia and Virgina were nothing like them, they were more friendly and more like friends. How could you start calling someone your parents when you had only been with them for not even 2 years yet, they sent him away from they got that far.

"I know I'm not crazy" Ben looked at Charlie curiously. The guy was so sure and Ben couldn't see anything so far that classified him as crazy so he decided to believe him. Half the time Ben wondered if they just threw people in here because they didn't have time to give them real help.

"How did you end up here anyways, you seem really.. normal." Ben smiled widely. No one in here had ever told him that before. A lot of people in here were to lost in their own minds that they didn't even bother to make friends.

"I dunno, you just don't seem crazy like I had expected when Antonio and Virgina told me I was gonna be staying here for a while." Ben thought about Charlie's wording for a moment. Seeing as he hadn't said parents Ben's mind further assumed that Charlie wasn't crazy and he was just another kid with parents who weren't there for him. A sad smlie played across Ben's lips.

"I ended up in here for a lot of reasons." He shrugged. "But I know that beyond this I have no future, I have no family that are desperately waiting for me to get better. I'm alone." His face went serious for a moment and a spacey look was on his face but then the casual grin he worked so hard for lit up his face again and he stood up from leaning on the wall. "So for now I get to enjoy the cafeteria food and fuzzy slippers." He grinned toothily and glanced up at the clock.

"Your not what I expected when they said they were giving me a roomate. I expected them to give me a crackhead roommate or one of those guys that never talk. But you I like you, you're alright so far."  He smiled, "Dinner is probably over but we can still go walk around, we have free time for now."

"I ended up in here for a lot of reasons. But I know that beyond this I have no future, I have no family that are desperately waiting for me to get better. I'm alone." Charlie just nodded his head in understanding, he was in the same situation. "I think we're sailing in the same boat here" he said softly with a shrug. "They hardly even knew me and they sent me to this hell hole, the bastards." Usually Charlie wasn't quite this cruel, but he did have a habit of being irrational and can get worked up and violent easily on these subjects.

So instead of just fueling his own fire to a point he had to fight someone he just let it go. "So for now I get to enjoy the cafeteria food and fuzzy slippers." Charlie looked down at his feet, the worn black converse that covered them. The white parts were hardly even white anymore he had had them so long and they had rips in the thin black cloth where his toes were at from walking so much. These were his favorite shoes, he felt comfortable in them like they were in his own skin so he would prefer them over slippers. "I do hope these slippers are optional" he joked softly, giving out a quiet and awkward giggle.

"Your not what I expected when they said they were giving me a roomate. I expected them to give me a crackhead roommate or one of those guys that never talk. But you I like you, you're alright so far." He laughed nervously again, taking that as a good thing. "You're pretty cool too... so far." The small young man smiled brightly at him ,following him towards the door.

"Dinner is probably over but we can still go walk around, we have free time for now." Charlie nodded "thats fine, I wasn't very hungry either. I would enjoy a tour of the place so I'm not completely lost tomorrow." He glanced back at his bed where the white slip of paper with all the times and dates of everything was located, he knew he would end up forgetting so he guessed when he got back to the room he would tape it to the wall somewhere.

Re: Boys Dorm Room 2 {BENJAMIN & CHARLIE}

Post by Sascha Bryant on Tue Nov 12, 2013 4:00 am

Sascha was the sort that often found trouble whether he was looking for it or not. It was in the curve of his lips when he smirked at passerby, in the sparkle of his eye as he turned a corner...it was just always /there/. He'd come to the conclusion that it was just something that worked for him, so he didn't try to fight it, and instead just chose to enhance it a little. So as he wandered down the hall, he'd duck into the little cubbies in the wall that doorways often created in buildings such as this and raise a hand to knock briskly on each door as he walked by...and then of all things would just keep walking.

Generally, this amused him as his knocks inevitably were answered with the sounds of opening doors and muttered questions of who was there. No one thought that Sascha was the culprit, and why would they? He was small, and unassuming in his jeans and t-shirt, in the worn-out black Chucks that scuffled on down the hallway. And it wasn't like he /knew/ anybody here yet to visit, so why the hell /should/ he be knocking. But it was fun to think that these strangers would be left to wonder.

He paused a moment on his way to the next door, glancing idly down at the toe of his shoe before giving a light kick against the nearest wall and then peering down at it again. Hmmm...it would seem as though the damned sticker that his kid sister had put there before coming here just wouldn't come off, so it looked like he'd be stuck with the obscenely glittery and brightly colored butterfly for a while yet. Sascha sighed, shaking his head and then absently pushed the hair that insisted on falling into his line of vision back out of the way and went back to what he'd been doing.

It was the last door in the corridor that caught his interest next, a door that the small male promptly went over to, raising his hand to knock. Pale blue eyes caught briefly on the stark white bandage that currently covered his wrist, and he couldn't help but stare at the stupid thing that had actually landed him here. 'Suicide attempt my ass...' Sascha thought, mentally scowling. It hadn't been a suicide attempt, the cut hadn't even been 'proper' for such a thing. No, it was just a matter of the blade he'd been using being sharper than he'd anticipated, that was all, and so the cut had just gone deeper than his wounds usually did. Sascha wasn't stupid after all. Suicide...well, he couldn't say it wasn't a viable option eventually. It just hadn't been his intention. But trying to argue that point, well it was impossible. He sighed again, attention once more returning to the door and a grin quickly replacing the frown that had been threatening to darken his features. Knuckles met the door firmly, in three quick raps...and then one more for good measure, before taking a step away from the door to continue down the hall to keep with his current MO.

Charlie had already arrived in his room, and was peeling his layers of shirts off and just throwing them lazily to the floor. Somewhere during the day he had decided it was a bit to hot in this place to wear 2 shirts and a sweater. He had already stripped off his clothes when he heard a few knocks at his door. The now shirtless boy was startled, and quickly stumbled to his still unpacked suitcase on his bed. "Don't come in," he snapped loudly at whoever knocked at his door. In quick sloppy motions he unzipped one of his bags, pulling out a long sleeved black and white striped shirt and throwing it over his head. The sleeved were long and covered up most of his hands where he had burn marks at so he didn't worry about throwing gloves on to hide them.

Once he was fully dressed and positive no one could see anything he didn't want them to he opened the door. He was quite surprised really to find no one standing in front of the door, just emptiness. This kinda made him angry really. He couldn't explain it but it was just plain to rude to knock at someone's door then leave. He was kinda determined to find the culprit now.

Stretching out his tattooed neck so he could poke it out the door way Charlie glanced down the hall with narrowed hazel eyes. Sure enough walking down the hall was this small guy much like Charlie only more.. frail? It probably wasn't the best word to describe the guy but he was like Charlie in some aspects, like they looked like they were probably the same height but (still talking about their build) he also seemed different from Charlie. He was wearing a rather normal outfit, only the glittery sticker on one of his shoes off set it.

Sighing softly he pulled out of his room completely and shut the door softly behind him before walking slowly over to the guy. He sort of just cleared his throat to let the guy know Charlie was here rather than to touch him or something. "Uh hi" he said once he thought he got the guy's attention. He hoped he didn't look like he had just been crying over showers.. not a good first impression. "I think you might of knocked on my door?" He raised one of his eyebrows quizzically. "I mean I'm not trying to throw around false assumptions but yenno, all evidence leads me to believe you knocked on my door." He shrugged his shoulder's softly then quickly pulled his arms close to him, grabbing his own elbows so he arms were tucked in rather than just hanging out by his side. He felt safer like this, no one could grab him and pull him away as easily.

Re: Boys Dorm Room 2 {BENJAMIN & CHARLIE}

He hadn't been prepared to be called out on it, not even in the slightest. So when Sascha stopped short in the hallway, his shoes squeaking a bit against the tiles of the floor, it was only natural for his body to stiffen - even if it was nearly imperceptible - reflexively in defense. The boy did relax though when he noted that the tones the other person used weren't typical for a person immediately going on the offense. That meant that he wasn't likely to just get punched in the face for his transgressions, and that made him a little less likely to instantly go on the defense. And it was good because really, he did so hate giving people the wrong first impression. After all, if Sascha were to turn around and cringe and fold in on himself, one might think that he was vulnerable, and a whole lot more frightened than he allowed himself to think he was. And that would just never do.

So when Sascha finally turned to greet his confronter, there wasn't an ounce of hesitance or nervousness present. If anything, he even looked a bit cocky with the way his lips were curved in that rather trademark smirk of his, and the way he stood didn't help things either. His posture was relaxed, hands in his pocket and the majority of his weight settled on his right fight. " So what if I did?" He asked, not necessarily confrontational, but more curious as if he genuinely wanted to know what this other boy was planning on doing about it.

Of course, that sense of curiosity was likely soon disbanded when Sascha, of all things, actually had the nerve to chuckle and shake his head - the light of teasing and mischief entering his eyes as he next spoke. "And anyway, how can you be sure you heard right? Isn't this a nut house? Isn't it possible you were just hearing things?" He joked, even though he did know that this might actually be the case. And of course, as Sascha spoke he hardly had a clue that he was possibly offending the other person. After all, it only stood to reason that he was just as crazy as anyone else in this place - even if Sascha felt like he could argue this fact.

After a moment more of consideration - that moment spent with Sascha's eyes absently drifting down along the other's form in a rather unabashed manner - he finally ventured to step in closer, though not close enough to make the other boy feel like he might need to step back. The way he figured, he was so small that it was hard to make a person feel crowded by simply being close. " Nice shirt." , Sascha said in casual tones, deciding that he'd apparently said enough as he fell silent again. He supposed that the stranger talking to him might need time to absorb things...especially since the other kid did seem to be on the nervy side. Besides, being quiet allowed him a chance to further observe, and well, watching people was just as amusing to him as annoying them.

Charlie watched the guy nonchalantly, not really showing any aggression. He wasn't angry, just kinda upset maybe? It just bothered him that the guy knocked his door then walked away. Was the guy teasing Charlie or something? The guys reply to his question kinda irked him more than the action of knocking on the door itself did. He hadn't said it aggressively or anything but it was sort of a key sentence that was like a challenge, a fight starter. The last thing Charlie needed was a fight so he was... worried in a way. It was the next comment the guy shot about Charlie possibly hearing something that really pissed him off, he wasn't crazy.

"Umm" Charlie sort of just shrugged his shoulder's awkwardly. "People usually stick around at my door long enough for me to ask why they knocked. I don't know what to do when you just walk away. I don't prepare for these things." The sarcasm in his voice was more than obvious as he spoke in a surprisingly deep octave. "I'll be sure to start training myself in how to properly answer doors." He made an over exaggerated shocked face as if he came to a sudden realization "oh wait! Maybe you should learn how to knock at doors." It was kinda a feeble effort to sound menacing and witty on this subject but Charlie tried. "And by the way, I'm not crazy. Even if I were crazy I'm not schizophrenic. This place is poorly mistaken, I am just emotionally unstable." He had stated it once and he would say it a thousand times if it would get it through their thick skulls, he wasn't insane.

Charlie might have gotten offended a little to quickly though, it came with his "disorder" if thats even what you could call it. But this guy had no right to assume he was crazy, he was probably really truly insane unlike Charlie.

Any thoughts of aggression towards the guy seemed to almost vanish when he stepped forward closer to Charlie. Sure it was a small gesture to anyone else, one that showed no harm and he wasn't even uncomfortably close. Charlie just preferred to keep his distance from people, who knows if the guy could just randomly lash out and hurt him. As much as he would like to though Charlie didn't step back, that would be rude he just got all pale faced and tensed up, tightening his grip on his elbows.

As the guy complimented his shirt Charlie just nodded his head "thank you" he said curtly, looking down at the guys shoes. "Nice butterfly," he commented in a friendly tone despite his nerves being all over the place. He wasn't even being sarcastic or trying to be witty anymore.

"Maybe you should learn to knock at doors." The other boy said, making Sascha's brows raise and amusement crinkle the outer corners of his eyes. "Funny but...I'm pretty sure I already know how." He offered by way of easy retort, reaching up to absently shove a bit of hair out of his eyes. "I mean, you /did/ come out here because you heard it, and all." And though it might seem natural that Sascha should respond to sarcasm with more of the same, the words he'd just spoken managed to seem altogether too serious for all that. Even when coupled with the openly impish grin curving his lips.

Of course, what this boy had to say further...well, that was another matter altogether. And while amusement still lingered in his expression, there was perhaps a little bit of wariness as well. A wariness that was oddly coupled with curiosity, as if Sascha was wondering what might happen if he poked at the other a bit more. Clearly, he was just a little sensitive about whatever condition had put him in this place. And a little nervy to boot if the way the other kid seemed to stiffen up just because he stepped a little closer. It would have been laughable if Sascha had been in the mood to make fun of someone.

As it happened, he wasn't...after all, he'd only been causing a little trouble with his door-knocking. It wasn't anything to get worked up over, or upset about. And it wasn't something designed to call people out just so he could poke at their psychosis. So, rather than stir up further trouble, he took a step back and held out his hands. "Chill dude. No need to get all freaked out. We're all crazy here, in case you couldn't tell. I mean, it's kind of the point of being here, right?" Sascha arched a brow and then stuck his hand back into it's coinciding hip pocket, the other hand moving across his body to scratch unthinkingly at the bandaged spot on his wrist. " I was just teasing you is all. Seems like someone needs to get a sense of humor."And accept a few facts of life in a mental institution while the other was at it, though Sascha didn't say as much aloud.

When the other guy mentioned the sticker on his shoe, though, Sascha couldn't help but grin again, his gaze dropping to the glittery thing as he turned the toe of that shoe upward to get a better look at it. "Yeah, my kid sister stuck it on there before I, ah, got dropped off. I tried to get the damned thing off but ain't no use." Sascha shrugged, and then after a moment of thought finally extended his hand in greeting. "Sascha. You?"

Charlie just sort of adverted his eyes to the ground when the guy said he did obviously know how to knock. "Good point" he muttered reluctantly. "Still, it wasn't very respectful to just knock then walk." It wasn't like it had hurt Charlie's feelings really, he just found it annoying. A really immature action, like ding dong ditching or throwing eggs at a house, the little pranks that most teenagers did. Sure Charlie was only 20 (21 in a month actually) he was really understanding why adults got so angry.

There was a long silence for a little bit, both of the short boys just lingering in the hallway. This gave him time to think about his conversation with Dr. Carthur earlier that day. She said she would see what she could do about the roommate thing so did that mean he had a room to himself now? Well she also said she wanted him to talk With Ben but couldn't he have his own room NOW? You think the staff could flex a bit to spare Charlie's mental health. And the shower issue, would he have to go weeks without showering before they confirmed that he could shower privately? The idea of walking around all greasy and smelly wasn't very keen so he decided if it came down to it he would just hang a towel or something for a door and hope the security doesn't yell at him.

"Chill dude. No need to get all freaked out. We're all crazy here, in case you couldn't tell. I mean, it's kind of the point of being here, right?" He had almost forgot that he was talking to someone until he started talking again. Looking at him Charlie smiled softly in gratitude as he backed up a bit with his arms raised. With the guy's arms raised Charlie noticed the bandages and he eyed them curiously. He couldn't help but think the bandages were a product of self harm, placed there to keep the poor guy from bleeding out or something like that. "Thanks for backing up," he said at last. "But I'm not crazy, trust me I'm truly sane. I'm just.. a bit sick I guess? In most cases crazy people are crazy for life. Sure you may be able to help someone out who might be crazy but they will usually always be crazy. I was born sane and my childhood spat out a mentally ill teenager. They put me in here just until I get better. I will get better." His gaze hardened and he narrowed his eyes, mentally daring the guy to tell him he's crazy again.

He listened to his story about his sister sticking it on his shoe and he couldn't help but crack a smile. Charlie was the youngest out of 3 boys in his family so he didn't know what it was like to have a younger sibling. He didn't even think he older siblings liked him that much either. They weren't as harsh on him as his mom was but what were they supposed to do? Charlie doesn't blame them for sitting back and letting him endure so much mental and physical pain, their mom was a scary woman so when she says "stay out of it" they stay out of it. The same thing goes for his dad. "I say you should keep it on," Charlie said as he looked down at the sticker again. "I mean you wanna keep every inch of your old home with you I'm sure, but you can't really so take as much as you can." Charlie living in a home that he felt out of place in didn't really take much with him, just a few of his belongings and an empty wallet with a few pictures in it, a few of his foster care parents, and a few of his wife. Now he didn't really open the wallet at all, not wanting to stir up any painful memories about his wife or her death.

When the guy extended his arm to Charlie and introduced himself as Sascha the nervous boy eyed his hand dubiously, glancing from the hand back to Sascha's face. "Um.." he started softly and just gave a small shrug and a nod of his head. Touching was a no go for Charlie but he would feel rude just leaving the guy hanging... well it would be by his own choice to shake Sascha's hand so it wouldn't be that bad? If Charlie chose to touch someone he was fine but if someone touched him without his permission just NOPE. He swallowed awkwardly before slowly extending his hand and placing it in Sascha's shaking the guys and quickly before pulling away and grabbing his elbows again. "I'm Charlie," he said at last giving the same friendly smile. "Nice to meet you."

'Way to make an awkward moment more awkward, kid', the words trickled quietly through Sascha's head, the boy that had no trouble just speaking his mind having to almost physically bite his tongue on them. But just because he didn't say it, didn't make it any less true. After all, it was only a handshake he'd offered. It wasn't like Sascha was trying to get him into a lip lock. At least not yet. His eyes swept over the other boy once more, that devilish grin playing more subtly at the corners of his lips as he admitted, at least to himself, that it might be a possibility at some point.

Once his hand was finally shaken, and released - quick as it was - Sascha tucked it absently back into his pocket, the need to fidget presenting itself but the lack of anything to fidget with other than the zipper on his own hoodie keeping him from it. Instead, he sort of shifted his weight to the other foot, and then back again...before finally reaching up to toy with that lock of hair that insisted on hanging down in his face, curling it around his forefinger, releasing it and then curling it again.

"Charlie. You don't look like a Charlie.", offered the slightly smaller boy in his usual blunt manner. "Then again, I guess you could. Maybe." He shrugged, not entirely caring too much about such a thing as he found his mind drifting back to something the other said before. Going to get better, was he? Just sick for the time being, huh? Sascha couldn't help the snort that escaped him, nor could he help the slightly unpleasant smirk that briefly twisted his lips. Yeah right. Charlie was going to get better and this place was going to magically transform itself into Disney Land, the happiest place on earth. Not bloodly likely.

It was true that Sascha hadn't been institutionalized all his life...but there had been a period of six months that he's spent in a place similar to this when he'd been sixteen. He knew what was up, and wasn't anybody in this little spot on the planet Earth going to just magically get better. The best they could hope for would be to become 'stabilized' so they could be set free among the masses until they became so screwed up again that they had be institutionalized again. It was a vicious circle, but one that Sascha at least found comforting. Likely, though, Charlie wouldn't think of it that way, so again, he had to bite back the impulse to just spew all of this out. If Sascha was planning on possibly trying to talk this guy into bed eventually, well...he didn't want to make the other hate him right off the rip.

"Well, yeah I guess. I dunno." Sascha paused to look back down to the sticker on his shoe, turning his foot this way and that to watch the light reflect off of it. " I'm not really one for all that sentimental crap. Home's really just wherever I happen to be and all that." He shrugged again, keeping his gaze absently on his foot. "Guess if I took it off she'd just put another one there anyways. So it don't matter." His brows drew together, a frown of thought briefly shadowing his features before he visibly shook himself out of it and made himself look back up at Charlie and grin again. "So. Anything to do for fun around here besides bang our heads against the walls? I mean, you been here longer, yeah? So you should know what's up."

"What?" he said softly, raising an eyebrow. How does he NOT look like a Charlie? It was his name and he had been a Charlie all his life. Then again, Charlie wasn't sure how other people see him, he had known himself as Charlie his entire life. Maybe to someone like Sascha Charlie was not a name associated with a short boy from the shit hole state of New Jersey with as many tattoos as he had health issues. "Whatever" he said softly, dismissing the topic with a shrug.

The snort that Sascha let out made Charlie narrow his eyes. He wasn't sure what Charlie had said to make Sascha snort but it kinda upset him. Logic says it was probably the bit about getting better. Mostly everyone didn't believe him when he said he would get better and it was getting annoying. Charlie had been through a lot in his life, and he had gotten better always, what was so different about this? Sure it was a mental thing in his head but he was positive he could get over it. It wasn't like he was bat-shit crazy either, just sort of hearing not feeling comfortable with his body and having such fierce anxiety about people touching or hurting him that he cries at a touch. It certainly isn't as bad as it COULD have been. Really he probably could have even handled it on his own, his stupid foster parents just didn't want to deal with him. Why adopt a child if you were just gonna stick him in a nut house anyways? He slumped his shoulders and shifted so he could lean against the wall with his hands still holding his elbows.

To be honest all these people denying his idea of getting better was starting to get him down. It was only his day for Pete's sake and everyone just instantly assumed that he was in here for life. And if so many people thought that couldn't it possibly be true? This was a sort of thing that happened to Charlie often. People say things about him and after a while even Charlie himself believes them, the lies become reality. And this scared him. He wasn't crazy, and he was determined he would get out of here for good. Give it a few months.

"I'm not really one for all that sentimental crap. Home's really just wherever I happen to be and all that. Guess if I took it off she'd just put another one there anyways. So it don't matter." Charlie just nodded in understanding. He couldn't exactly say he wasn't sentimental but he had been moved around so much he understood where Sascha was coming from with the whole "Home is where I am" thing. But with that in mind, did that mean this ugly pale hospital was his home now? He shuddered inwardly, he did not wanna consider this torture chamber his home.

"So. Anything to do for fun around here besides bang our heads against the walls? I mean, you been here longer, yeah? So you should know what's up," Sascha had asked. It was a good question actually. Charlie had only been dropped off here this morning. Ben had been his tour guide and now he was just wondering around sulking. Thats about all he would probably do for the rest of the first day. Sulk.

"I actually just got here this morning. So I've only been here a little less than 10 hours. I talked with my room mate a bit then he showed me around." He shrugged his shoulders lamely. "I don't know, we could probably just go bother some people or something. Maybe I could show you around a bit." After he spoke he heard his stomach growl and he frowned slightly. Man was he regretting skipping dinner. "Maybe I can manage to steal something from the cafeteria" he muttered softly, mostly to himself.

Re: Boys Dorm Room 2 {BENJAMIN & CHARLIE}

At somepoint during the conversation, his hearing had cut off - making his gaze appear distant, glazed over while Sascha focused haphazardly on a point of the wall somewhere to the side of Charlie's head. It was how it happened with him when the meds started to wear thin - a thing that occurred far too quickly for the doctors' liking, or so those men and women in pristine white lab coats had said. First there was this quiet, static hum inside his head and then a quiet 'pop' and then...nothing. And in that nothingness was what Sascha had come to call the 'itch'. The need to feel something bite into his skin to remind him that he was alive, and there and actually present in the physical world. To remind him that he simply /existed/... and to keep the rest of what came with the nothingness at bay.

Without realizing it, he reached across his body once more - fingernails moving to dig into the wound that was still scabbing over, the wound present beneath the bandage that would be all too easy to open up. After all, he hadn't had the opportunity to seek out something sharp enough to use and well, sometimes the re-opening of an old cut was enough to stave off the onslaught of unpleasantness for a little while. Hell, it wasn't like he knew any other way to self-medicate...or at least not any other way that was viable. Sex was always an option, provided he could find someone willing to distract him with such things for long enough to keep his mind happily empty. At the moment though, no such person existed. So his fingers scratched and to no avail as all they felt was the sturdy fabric of an expertly placed bandage, making him frown in an eerily absent fashion - an unbidden sigh slipping from his lips.

Suddenly, he shook his head, that glazed, empty expression coming back to life as a word stuck in Sascha's mind. 'Cafeteria'. It was odd but he brightened up almost instantly, his gaze once again lively as he offered the other a distinctly wicked grin. I'm up for stealing food if you are." Sascha said cheerily, clearly unable to see that talk of stealing anything was supposed to be viewed as 'wrong. This was also how it happened when those meds stopped their work. He went from down to up in a matter of seconds - and well, if his currently 'up' state of mind had more to do with the idea that cafeterias also usually had plastic cutlery, well it was no matter.

The small boy bounced a bit in place as he peered at the other boy expectantly, waiting for him to lead the way as he really hadn't bothered to explore much other than to figure out where his room might be located. He vaguely recalled hearing something about the other boy having a room-mate too, and wondered if he might eventually be allowed one. Sascha really did dislike being alone, not being one to be used to it as the house he'd been raised in had always seemed to be teeming with life - coming from a family of eight did that to houses - and unlike most of his siblings, he never really cherished time spent alone. Plus, there were certain bonuses to having a roommate and thinking the way he tended to when it came to matters of sexuality. Especially if they were easy to convince...and no, he didn't even whince inwardly at the thought of how terribly 'wrong' it would sound to others if they heard that thought aloud. To Sascha, it wasn't 'wrong'...it was simply how things were. And besides, the way he figured it, agreeing to something was agreeing. No matter what state of mind these so-called geniuses that wanted to 'help' people like them thought that their patients were in.
