Killian was aware that he might not look like a member of Daniel Grey's staff. Where as most around here seemed to live in business-casual, Killian only ever existed in casual. Jeans, and t-shirts or at most a button down...and honestly, if he could continue to get away with it that was how he planned on staying. He was more approachable this way, and he knew from experience that - as a counsellor - he needed to be approachable. People were made nervous by suits, and other visible signs of so-called authority, and he didn't want anyone feeling coerced or forced when they actually started to talk to him. No, he wanted his patients to feel comfortable and on top of that he wanted to be comfortable himself - and really, who could ever feel that way in a suit? Right now though, he couldn't help but wish that he'd thought to at least invest in one so he could up his chances of being taken seriously.
He was on his way to a meeting, that he'd actually arranged , with his boss - Dr. Evans. The doctor was a man that Killian actually had yet to meet, and honestly he would have been okay with keeping it that way as he generally had problems with clear authority figures and what they represented. Unfortunately, though, it had become a necessity during this past week - and no, it wasn't the sort of necessity that required the making of a complaint. It was true that the patient he had in mind was a bit of a pain in the ass, but honestly Killian understood why he was. At least, he understood the basics of it as Fenris had yet to really start talking. He was a stubborn man, but Killian had the patience for it, and besides, that wasn't what bothered him. What bothered him was the guy's parents...and their distinct lack of care for their son.
Sure, Fenris had things. Clothes, shoes...all of the things that humans needed to live in a basic fashion. But there was nothing that he might want, almost as if those so-called parents hadn't bothered to spend the time to find out what those things might be. Books, a particular sort of candy...or even cigarettes. And that was really what had brought this meeting into the realm of necessity as he'd gone out and done something on impulse, but now wasn't sure enough to be able to follow through on it.
It wasn't that Killian was seeking permission, exactly, because he wasn't. He'd already gone out and bought a carton of his own brand, simply because he didn't know what Fenris preferred, but he had yet to make Fenris aware because he wanted to make certain that he wasn't going to get fired for doing so. After all, problems with authority aside - Killian needed this job. And he liked it and was good at it, so it would be beneficial to both sides if he were allowed to stay on. But he couldn't deal with the fact that there were people in this place that had nothing simply because those responsible for their care chose to give them nothing. It was neglect, plain and simple...and well, so long as this place was their 'home', he aimed to make certain that wants /and/ needs were being met. And that was going to start with Fenris and his cigarettes.
He paused just outside of the door, trying to peer into the purposely blurred glass window of the door to see if he could figure out if the doctor was even in. After all, just because it was free time for the patients didn't mean it was the same for staff. And though Killian had scheduled this meeting, it also didn't mean that something hadn't come up and the doctor had been needed elsewhere. But just standing outside of the door and staring in wasn't going to do any good...so after a few moments of doing just that, Killian finally raised a fist to the door and knocked. After that, all that was left to really do was wait - and if the doctor didn't happen to be in, he'd just have to find a piece of paper to leave a note on his door. Either way, he fully intended on talking with Doctor Evans at some point today as really this couldn't be put off any longer.
